Bucks County Coffee Company started as a nut roasting enterprise in the garage of Rodger Owen, the founder. He added coffee in 1988 becoming one the earliest micro-roasters of gourmet coffees. The first store opened in the small town of Yardley, PA, in a restored carriage house.
Bucks County Coffee Company now boasts more than forty retails stores in three states of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the United States. In addition to its proprietary retail outlets, the company roasts and vacuum packs its premium line of specialty coffees under the Bucks County label to be sold in supermarkets throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
In order to improve the lives of farmers who carefully cultivate their coffees, Bucks County Coffee Company has begun partnerships with Colombia and Costa Rica. The partnership in Colombia is with the indigenous Embera Chami tribe from Andes Mountains. After learning more about the people who grow this wonderful premium coffee, the company assisted in various community projects including construction of a new community center, endowment of the local hospital and the construction of two new schoolrooms.
